Congress leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Choudhary was embroiled in a controversy after he referred to President Draupadi Murmu as ‘Rashtrapatni’. After his statement BJP MP Smriti Irani was very aggressive. After this, Chaudhary has now given a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla demanding action against Smriti Irani. Chaudhary has demanded that Irani should do this because he repeatedly referred to President Draupadi Murmu only as Draupadi Murmu during the session proceedings.
Demand action against Smriti Irani
In this letter written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary has demanded an unconditional apology from Union Minister Smriti Irani for referring to her as ‘Draupadi Murmu’ instead of using the word ‘President’. “The manner in which Smriti Irani was taking the honorable President’s name in the House was not appropriate. She kept chanting only the name of Draupadi Murmu without using the word President. This is clearly an insult to the President. Therefore, I demand that Smriti Irani apologize unconditionally in order to maintain the dignity of the post of President, Chaudhary said.
President apologizes for mentioning Rashtrapati
In his letter, Adhir has given an explanation regarding the mention of the President’s wife. This was a mistake because my Hindi is not very good. I have accepted my mistake and apologized to the President. I accidentally used the wrong word for you while writing to President Murmu. My tongue slipped. Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary has explained that I apologize and requested him to forgive me in the letter.
