New Delhi : The dispute between the central government and the Congress, which started since the beginning of the monsoon session of the Parliament, is still going on in both the houses of the Parliament and outside the Parliament and it intensified on Friday. Both Houses of Parliament were adjourned amid confusion over Congress Leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Choudhary’s offensive reference to the President, clash between Union Minister Smriti Irani and Sonia Gandhi, Agniveer Yojana, price hike of essential commodities and other issues and the opposition’s opposition to it.

Congress MPs staged a protest in front of the Gandhi statue in the Parliament complex, demanding an apology from the government for Irani’s behavior towards Sonia Gandhi. The Congress also raised the issue in the Lok Sabha and accused Irani of insulting Sonia. Congress has also complained to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla about this. Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge also raised this issue in the Rajya Sabha.
In view of the anti-government protests of the opposition parties which have been going on for the past few days during the session, the work of both the houses had to be adjourned within a few minutes as soon as it started on the ninth day on Friday. The proceedings of the House were adjourned after MPs from the Congress and other opposition parties created a ruckus demanding a discussion on inflation, GST and the Agneepath scheme.
Meanwhile, Congress Rajya Sabha MP Mallikarjun Kharge demanded that Nirmala Sitharaman and Piyush Goyal’s objectionable statements about Sonia Gandhi be excluded from the proceedings. By letter to Venkaiah Naidu.

The work of the House was first adjourned till 12 noon. As soon as the work started at 12 o’clock, verbal clashes broke out again between the opposition and the ruling party. After the Congress MP ran into the open space in front of the President shouting anti-government slogans, BJP MPs along with some Union Ministers also created a ruckus demanding an apology from Sonia Gandhi over the mention of ‘national wife’.
A big controversy arose on Thursday over Chaudhary’s statement. The ruling MPs attacked the Congress. Alleging that Chaudhary deliberately insulted President Murmu, BJP members demanded an apology from Sonia Gandhi. Chowdhury clarified that I did not intend to insult the President but said the word by mistake. Despite his explanation, as the confusion continued, the President adjourned the proceedings till Monday.
Rajya Sabha was also adjourned for the day on Friday as opposition members clashed over various issues. For the second week in a row, no important work could be done in the House due to opposition agitation. So far 23 MPs have been suspended for obstructing the work. After adjournment in the morning, as soon as the House started at 12 noon, the Congress members ran into the open space and shouted slogans against the government.
The opposition raised the issue of poisoned liquor in Gujarat. Also, Union Minister Smriti Irani demanded the dismissal of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, accusing her of allegedly insulting her. Congress’s Adhir Ranjan Choudhary’s objectionable reference to President Draupadi Murmu also got the ruling party aggressive. Therefore, the Speaker adjourned the proceedings of the House.
