Illusion that Trinamool Congress will break up using central mechanisms

Kolkata : West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday finally broke her silence on the arrest of West Bengal Minister Partha Chatterjee by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the teacher recruitment scam. If someone is found to have done something wrong, he should be punished, she said. But if the BJP believes that the Trinamool Congress can be broken by using the central machinery, then it is their illusion, he has warned the BJP.

She was speaking at the award distribution ceremony of the state government. While alleging that the opposition has started a campaign of defamation against him, he also claimed that he does not support corruption. We have faith in the justice system. There should be a time limit regarding when the truth should come out in the investigation and also what the court should decide on it. If anyone is found guilty of it, he should be punished. But she also condemned the malicious campaign against her. BJP has released an audio tape of Mamata having a conversation with Arpita Mukherjee, whose house was seized during the investigation into the teacher recruitment scam. Explaining it, Banerjee said that Trinamool Congress has no connection with that woman. I don’t even know her. I go to many events. If there is any depiction, that does not make me guilty.

We do not support, nor condone corruption of any kind. We have to see if the ongoing investigation by the central agencies is a trap set up to implicate our party and me. -Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal
