Monkeypox declared a public health emergency in New York

New York: The epidemic has been declared a public health emergency in New York as cases of monkeypox are on the rise. The administration expressed fear that this city may become the cause of disease outbreak and infect one and a half lakh city dwellers. New York City Mayor Eric Adams and New York City Health Department Commissioner Ashwin Wasson on Saturday declared a public health emergency due to the monkeypox outbreak.

For the past few weeks, we have been trying to keep citizens safe by providing them with vaccines and better treatment, officials said. He also said that one and a half lakh citizens of the city are likely to get infected with this disease.
