nia raid along six states in 13 places including maharashtra kolhapur and nanded district

A major action has been taken by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) across the country. A total of 13 suspects’ houses and other premises in six states of the country have been raided by this organization. NIA has also taken this action in Kolhapur and Nanded districts of Maharashtra.

The NIA has conducted raids across the country in six states namely Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Bihar, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. Bhopal and Raisen districts in Madhya Pradesh, Bharuch, Surat, Navsari and Ahmedabad districts in Gujarat, Araria in Bihar, Bhatkal and Tumkur in Karnataka state, Deoband in Uttar Pradesh and Kolhapur and Nanded districts in Maharashtra.

Confiscation of documents as well as suspicious materials

The NIA had registered an offense under Sections 18, 18B, 38, 39 and 40 of the UAPA Act and Sections 153A and 153B of the Indian Penal Code on 25 June 2022 related to terrorist organization ISIS. NIA has taken this action to investigate this crime. In this operation, documents and suspicious materials have been seized from 13 suspected places.

Where did the action take place in Maharashtra?

NIA has conducted raids in Nanded and Kolhapur districts of Maharashtra. Two suspects, Irshad Shaukat Shaikh and Altaf Shaikh, were detained by the NIA from Hupari in Kolhapur at 4 am.
