Although the ongoing struggle of the unemployed to get government jobs has been witnessed in the last eight years, it has come to light that only less than one percent of the applicants have fulfilled their dreams. From 2014-15 to 2021-22, 22.05 crore applications were received for government jobs, but only 7.22 lakh or 0.33 per cent of the applicants got jobs in various central government departments. The central government gave this information in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Jitendra Singh informed the Lok Sabha. In the year 2019-20 for employment, maximum 1.47 lakh applicants were recommended for government jobs. This was the year before the outbreak of Corona. Out of the total recruitment in eight years, about 20 percent of the 7.22 lakh recruitment took place this year, coincidentally the same year elections were held.
The general trend seems to be that recruitment to government jobs has been declining since 2014-15, with the exception of 2019-20. 1.11 lakh in 2015-16, 1.01 lakh in 2016-17, 76,147 in 2017-18, 38,100 in 2018-19 and 38,850 in 2021-22. Interestingly, in the last eight years, only 7.22 lakh Indians were recruited in government jobs, but on June 14, the Prime Minister Narendra ModiHe announced that 1 million people will be employed in ‘mission mode’ in the next 18 months. The Prime Minister made this announcement after inspecting the manpower in all departments and ministries.
Information presented by Jitendra Singh in Parliament shows that since 2014, as many as 22.05 crore people had applied for government jobs, the highest of which was 5.09 crore in 2018-19. While the lowest i.e. 1.80 crore applications were received in the year 2020-21.
A study of the information in this context revealed that an average of 2.75 crore applications are received every year, and an average of 90,288 candidates are given jobs every year. Eight-year job placement rates range from 0.07 percent to 0.80 percent of applications.
