PTI, New Delhi: Congress suspended three MLAs from Jharkhand on Sunday. A large amount of cash was seized from them on Saturday in Howrah, West Bengal. The Congress accused the BJP of trying to topple the coalition government in the state. The Congress asserted that the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-led government was completely secure and stable.
Addressing a press conference at the All India Congress Committee headquarters here, the party’s Jharkhand in-charge Avinash Pandey said that Congress president Sonia Gandhi suspended three MLAs with immediate effect. Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a car in West Bengal on Saturday. In it, Congress MLAs Irfan Ansari, Rajesh Kachhap and Naman Biksal were passing through Kongari National Highway-16 in Ranihati (Howrah) and they found huge cash in the vehicle. Pandey said that these three MLAs were conspiring to weaken the Legislative Congress in Jharkhand and misleading other MLAs. He said that the party leadership knows who is behind this conspiracy and action will be taken at the right time. In the future, if anyone is found in such cases, whether they are people’s representatives, party office bearers or activists, the party will take strict action against them.
Pandey again clarified that the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-led coalition government is completely safe and stable and all the MLAs of the alliance, with the exception of a few such MLAs, will fight together against such attempts and the government will complete its tenure. Democratic values are violated and insulted by the BJP by shamelessly destabilizing the democratically elected governments. BJP has been trying for two years to destabilize the government in Jharkhand. From time to time MLAs are approached, threatened and enticed. Pandey said that a case was also registered against BJP leaders in this case a few days ago. In these efforts, Pandey also claimed that the BJP Chief Minister of a state directly contacts the MLAs or the Union Minister threatens the MLAs, without naming anyone.
Five persons including three MLAs were arrested
Howrah (West Bengal): Three Congress MLAs were arrested on Sunday after a large amount of cash was seized from their vehicle in Jharkhand, Howrah district of West Bengal. A senior police officer said that on Saturday evening, Rs 49 lakh was seized from the MLA’s vehicle which was stopped on National Highway-16 at Ranihati in Pachla police station limits. MLAs Irfan Ansari, Rajesh Kachhap and Naman Bixal could not give a satisfactory explanation to the police as to where Kongari and his motorist were going with such a huge amount of cash. So he was arrested. He said that the CID has taken over the investigation from the Howrah rural police. He said that five persons, including MLAs, have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Prevention of Corruption Act. The official said that the MLAs were interrogated throughout the night.
‘Operation Lotus’ in Jharkhand exposed – Ramesh
At this time, Pandey pointed out that the Enforcement Directorate had been misused to topple the government in Maharashtra. Congress media chief Pawan Khera alleged that government institutions are acting as wings of BJP to destabilize elected governments instead of doing their job. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh on Saturday ‘tweeted’ that BJP’s ‘Operation Lotus’ in Jharkhand was exposed in Howrah on Saturday night. The ‘game plan’ of ‘Hum Do’ in Delhi is similar to what was done in Maharashtra by using the E-D (Eknath-Devendra) pair in Jharkhand.
