A major fire incident has taken place at New Life Multi-Speciality Hospital in Jabalpur. Eight people died in this fire, including four patients. The fire broke out around 2 pm. The fire is believed to have started due to shotcrete.

Meanwhile, less than 25 people were in the hospital when the fire broke out. This included four patients, their relatives and nine employees including two doctors running the OPD on the ground floor, Jabalpur Collector Dr. Ilayaraja said.

The eight deaths include four patients and four staff. It has also come forward that there are five. Two of them are in critical condition.
There was no fixed fire fighting system like smoke detectors, hose pipes in this hospital. There were only portable fire extinguishers. A notice was also issued for non-compliance with fire safety regulations.
