Another pandit killed in Kashmir

PTI, Srinagar: Two Kashmiri Pandit brothers were fatally attacked by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday. One person died, the other was seriously injured. According to the police, the name of the deceased is Sunil Kumar. The name of the injured is Pintu Kumar.

According to the police spokesperson, terrorists carried out the attack in an apple orchard at Chotipura in Shopian district. Sunil Kumar died in their firing. Pintu Kumar is injured and is undergoing treatment at the hospital. Security forces have cordoned off the area where the attack took place. Details regarding further action will be announced soon. There has been an increase in terrorist attacks in the Kashmir valley since last week. A policeman was killed in Nouhatta on Sunday and a migrant Bihari worker was killed in Bandipura last week. Terrorists carried out two bomb attacks in Budgam and Srinagar districts on Monday.

The killing was condemned by several political leaders, including Jammu and Kashmir Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha. The Lt Governor said in a ‘Tweet’ that he was deeply saddened by the news of the cowardly attack on civilians in Shopian district. Let’s fight the terrorists. National Conference leader Omar Abdullah, BJP spokesperson Altaf Thakur have also strongly condemned the attack.

Meanwhile, although there are reports that the alleged ‘Kashmir Freedom Fighter Group’ has claimed responsibility for Tuesday’s attack, the security forces have speculated that the act may have been carried out by the terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed.
