Justice UU Lalit Latest News : Next of the country Chief Justice It is clear who will be. Chief Justice N. V. Ramana on Thursday (August 4) recommended the name of Justice Uday Lalit as the 49th Chief Justice of the country.

According to sources, Chief Justice A. V. Ramana himself sent a copy of his August 3 letter of recommendation to the Central Government on Thursday (August 4) to Justice U. U. Handed over to Lalit.

On August 3, a correspondence was sent by the Union Law Ministry to the Chief Justice’s Secretariat regarding the selection of the next successor to the post of Chief Justice. After this, Chief Justice Ramana as the next Chief Justice of U. U. Lalit’s name was recommended.

A. V. Ramana is retiring from the post of Chief Justice on August 26. Lalit will take oath as Chief Justice after him. Justice Lalit will hold the post of Chief Justice till November 8, 2022. He too will similarly recommend the name of the next Chief Justice before he retires on November 8.

Who is Justice Uday Lalit?

Justice Uday Lalit is originally from Sindhudurg district of Konkan. His native village is Kotharwadi in Devgad taluka. It is said that Lalit’s ancestors migrated to Apte village in Raigad district many years ago. After that the Lalit family settled in different places in Konkan. Specially, the profession of lawyer is practiced from generation to generation in Lalit family.

In the family of upcoming Chief Justice Uday Lalit, many people have advocated from father to grandfather. Later Uday Lalit also chose the same profession. After studying law in Mumbai, he started practicing law in 1983. Until December 1985, Lalit advocated in the Bombay High Court. Then in January 1986, he migrated to Delhi. There he advocated in the Supreme Court.

In April 2004, the Supreme Court granted him the status of senior advocate. He acted as arbitrator (‘Amicus Curia’) in several Supreme Court cases. He was appointed as the special public prosecutor in the 2G spectrum scam case. After this, on 13 August 2014, Lalit was appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court. Now his name has been recommended as the 49th Chief Justice of the country.
