After the teacher recruitment scam came to light in West Bengal, new revelations are being made every day in this case. A few days ago, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) seized more than Rs 50 crore from the Kolkata house of Arpita Mukherjee, an aide of former West Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee. Mukherjee has alleged that this money was kept in the house in his absence. He has also claimed that he has nothing to do with this money.
Parth Chatterjee and Arpita Mukherjee are in custody of ED till August 3 in connection with this scam. Chatterjee has been accused of rigging the recruitment process of ‘C’ and ‘D’ group employees, class IX and class XII assistant teachers in the education department. Meanwhile, ED is conducting raids at four more places in connection with this scam. According to sources, the raid is being conducted in a flat in Fort Oasis Society. During the interrogation of Arpita Mukherjee, after getting some documents and information regarding this flat, the ED is conducting a search of this flat.
ED first raided Arpita Mukherjee’s house in Kolkata on July 22. As much as 21 crore 90 lakh cash was seized at this time. Foreign currency worth Rs 56 lakh and gold worth Rs 76 lakh were also seized by the ED. Later, ED seized 5 kg of gold and some documents along with a cash amount of 289 crores in Arpita’s other house. He has also claimed that he has nothing to do with this money. ED suspects that this amount is related to teacher recruitment scam.

Partha Chatterjee has also said that there is nothing to do with the money seized in the teacher recruitment scam case. He has claimed that when the time comes, he will know who did this conspiracy against me. Chatterjee has also explained that he is not involved in any transactions related to this scam. Meanwhile, Trinamul Congress has sacked Chatterjee from the post of minister after this scam came to light.
