Josh Allen threw four touchdown passes, including three to Stephen Diggs, and the Buffalo Bills beat Derrick Henry and the Tennessee Titans 41-7 in their home opener on Monday night.
Allen topped the passing 300 yards for the 15th time of his career, completed 26 of 38 attempts for 317 yards, and sat out throughout the fourth quarter. Diggs took 12 catches for 148 yards. He has covered over 100 yards in each of his first two matches, a feat previously achieved only by Hall of Famer Andre Reid for the Bills.
After doing so nine times last year, the bill has crossed the 30 mark twice. And his defense limited Tennessee to an offense of 182 yards and 12 first downs, while recording two sacks and forcing four turnovers.
The Titans, coming off an early 21–20 season loss to the New York Giants, opened 0–2 for the first time since 2012.
this pair.
The two-time AFC South champion faces many questions about a defense that covered 313 yards in a week after allowing a run of 238 yards. Meanwhile, Henry and his crime continue.
The two-time Rushing Champion was limited to 25 yards on 13 carries, scoring on a jump of 2 yards.
Bill cornerback Jackson injured
Injuries affected both teams, the most serious being Bills cornerback Dane Jackson, who injured his neck in an upset collision with a teammate and was taken to hospital for evaluation. Biles said that Jackson’s limbs were completely stirred.
Coach McDermott: Dane Jackson’s limbs are in full swing, which is a good thing, but we’re still waiting for more updates. I was able to see him in the ambulance half the time and we are all sending him prayers. pic.twitter.com/wU7HobqveD
Otherwise, the two-time defending AFC East champion Bills continued to splurge in their second consecutive prime-time performance, while at the same time easing past disappointments, including a 42-16 loss to Tennessee in 2020.
Filled with memories of a fourth-place advantage near the goal line in a 34–31 loss in the final seconds of the previous season’s loss, in which Buffalo lost a seven-point fourth-quarter lead, the Bills won their opening day. Scored but drove and never looked back.
Allen and Diggs then opened the game by connecting on a 46-yard touchdown in Buffalo’s second half. Timed in the pocket, Allen threw a perfectly placed pass to Diggs, who reached to catch the ball before falling head-first into the end zone.
The wheels fell for the Titans, who were outscored 24-0 in the third quarter. Tennessee rookie Kyle Phillips muffed a punt for the second week in a row, and Ryan Tanhill consistently threw interceptions on property.
Tannehill finished 11 of 20 for 117 yards and was benched with 3:49 in the third quarter after Milano’s interception. Rookie Malik Willis took over, and if Tannehill continues to struggle, Tennessee fans will want to see more youthful backup.
Hurts, Slay Help the Eagles Defeat the Vikings
Jalen Harts covered a total of 301 yards in the first half in the breakout game of his youth career, finishing with three total touchdowns as he led the Philadelphia Eagles to a 24-7 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night.
Trying to prove that he is a franchise QB for the Eagles in his second year, Harts looked absolutely unstoppable from the opening drive.
Turn the ball down?
It looked like just a rumor against the Vikings. TD was just the liftoff to force the 24-year-old Harts to throw, run, enforce his will with all his available equipment against a Vikings defense that couldn’t resolve him at the start of his 21st career. He finished with 333 yards passing and one touchdown, and 57 yards and two scores on the ground.
In the first game of the second quarter, the Hearts connected with a wide-open cues Watkins for a 53-yard TD and a 14-0 lead.
There’s no better way to open the quarters!@JalenHurts @Mronesx_ 53 yard
Darius Slay, who picked up a helpless pass by Kirk Cousins in the third quarter, had called a trio of Eagles each of talented receiver Batman.
Brown was the “Swallow” Batman, taking five catches for 69 yards; Devonta Smith was the “skinny” Batman who had seven for 80 yards; And Watkins was the “fast” Batman who had the burners to score easy (and get a total of 69 yards).
Why are they all Batman?
“No Robbins. We don’t have any sidekicks,” Slay said.
The Hearts had another game for the highlight reel with only two minutes remaining in the first half. Harts rolled to his right and ran towards the end zone. He dragged two defenders with him, lowered his head, and worked his way up for a 26-yard touchdown that sent the crowd into a frenzy.
maximum effort‼️ @JalenHurts

Jake Elliott kicked 38-yards and the Eagles took a 24-7 lead at halftime.
In Week 2 filled with impossible comebacks, it probably wasn’t wise to count the Vikings out entirely.
But cousin and wide receiver Justin Jefferson – famously passed out by the Eagles in the 2020 draft – never came up with anything against the Eagles and disgraced defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon. Slay made his second interception of the game in the fourth quarter as “Big Play Slay” soon appeared on the scoreboard.
Hurts ran 50 yards in the first half and covered 251 yards. Cousins finished the game 27 for 221 yards and 46 for three interceptions. Jefferson had six catches for 48 yards in a week after receiving 184 yards and two TDs in a win against Green Bay.
