Canada reached the final of the International Para Hockey Cup after beating hosts Czech Republic 4-1 on Wednesday.
Canada will face the United States for gold on Friday in a rematch of the Paralympic final in Beijing in February, where the Americans beat Canada 5-0 for the title.
“You have to play an almost perfect game against the Americans,” said Canadian coach Russ Harrington.
Captain Tyler McGregor scored one goal and two assists, and Dominic Cozzolino scored twice for Canada against the Czechs at the Torrex Arena in Ostrava.
The Canadians defeated the Czech Republic, commonly known as the Czech Republic, 21–7.
Corbin Smith contributed a goal and an assist, and James Dunn and Liam Hickey contributed a pair each for the win.
“It’s an upbeat room,” Dunn said. “We have a lot of people playing in the first tournament, so it is a great experience and a real honor for them to play for gold.
Goaltender Jean-François Huenault made six saves for the win.
“When we talked before the game, it was nothing about Czechia,” Smith said.
“It was about us and what we needed to do. We wanted to work hard, be physical and force them to play their game. I think we did a good job of getting back to our game.” Done and did a good job tonight.”
