opinion | Joy Drop: Pascal Siakam's Gift That Keeps Giving CBC Sports

Good Friday! What a week it has been. This new school year has been particularly chaotic but full of energy and promise.

It’s really exciting to walk around the campus with students and the community. Speaking of good things happening to students, Toronto Raptors center Pascal Siakam donates to Lincoln Alexander School of Law at Toronto Metropolitan University.

Because of Siakam’s gift, 12 students interested in working with marginalized communities or for social change will be paid, while fully engaged in environmental issues, indigenous communities, and everything else.

Siakam (known as) Spicy Drink) is not the first Raptor to donate to post-secondary education programs as Scotty Barnes and Fred Van Vleet have also donated. But nothing I love more than the collaboration between post-secondary and sports stars to benefit the society.

Happiness comes in many forms and I love it when women’s sports and community support come together. The San Diego Wave broke the NWSL attendance record with 32,000 sales in a 1–0 win over Angel City FC. This is the Waves’ first season as the latest expansion team in the league. I have no doubt that women’s football will continue to make history.

This morning my son sent me a story about one of his favorite books from childhood: good night moon, I received this board book at his birth and it was part of my nightly sleep routine with all my kids. We had memorized it. The classic story of Margaret Wise Brown turning 75,

The book was issued in 1947 but some libraries refused to stock it until 1972. This is a wonderfully simple yet captivating story with beautiful and warm illustrations by Clement Heard. Feelings are very sincere. Brown died in 1952 and did not see it reach the success of selling 40 million copies worldwide. I gift it to new families and can’t wait to read it to my grandchildren one day.

One of my favorite social media accounts belongs to a person named abdul The one who nurses and nurses kittens. he has a huge following instagram And a YouTube channel. He posts videos about taking great care of the little critters and the work involved for him and his wife.

He bottle feeds them, plays with them and often takes naps with them. And they climb on top of it. Sometimes he names litter after the Great Lakes or after different things. This is a lovely account and Abdul is so dedicated. As a cat person, I love seeing the different personalities of all the fur babies.

Canada’s women’s basketball team is lagging behind in the FIBA Championship. They are undefeated at the moment. All games will be broadcast. Yes, those are an early start, but let’s cheer up ladies! Glad to see one of our favorites kia nurse Returned to court last year after recovering from an ACL injury. Nurse missed the entire WNBA season, but came back with a bucket.

While one of our WBB team is working hard in Australia, the other has just won! special shout out to Canadian 3×3 team Jo is the latest FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series 2022 winner in Constanta, Romania.

I love all this very much. Have a winning weekend!
