The Saskatchewan Roughriders can’t wait to see whether CFL bad boy Garrett Marino will receive any supplemental discipline from the league for his latest controversial hit on the quarterback.

Instead, the Riders released the defensive lineman on Tuesday when Merino blinded Winnipeg Blue Bombers quarterback Zach Colaros late in the fourth quarter. Labor Day Classic on Sunday,

Merino gained national attention earlier this season, when he received a four-game suspension from the Canadian Football League following an injury to Ottawa quarterback Jeremiah Masoli.

That suspension led to the longest penalty ever imposed by the league for in-game behavior.

Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive lineman Garrett Marino was issued a two-game suspension for a low hit from Ottawa RedBlacks quarterback Jeremiah Masoli in Friday night’s 28-13 win over Saskatchewan.

Marino was not awarded a penalty for his hit on Colorados, but the league will likely have received supplemental discipline on Wednesday.

The American, based out of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, played 15 games in two years with the Riders.

During that time he had 22 tackles and five sacks.
